BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. — Frostburg State was picked fourth in the North Division of the Mountain East Conference’s (MEC) preseason poll, as announced on Wednesday.
The Bobcats went 15-16 overall last season, including 5-9 in the MEC.
Frostburg finished fifth in the North Division and returned to the MEC tournament for the first time since 2021, falling to the back-to-back MEC champion Wheeling.
Wheeling earned all 10 first-place votes in the North Division, followed by Fairmont State who earned one.
West Liberty tied with Fairmont State for second place.
Frostburg was fourth followed by MEC newcomer Point Park.
In the South Division, West Virginia State was picked first, just ahead of Charleston by one point.
The Yellow Jackets played Wheeling in last year’s MEC championship.
The Golden Eagles went 24-10 last year, but lost in the first round of the MEC tournament to Fairmont State.
Concord, Glenville State, West Virginia Wesleyan and Davis & Elkins round out the South Division.
For the Bobcats, Peter Letourneau returns as head coach after leading the program from 2005 to 2010.
Frostburg opens the season at the Warrior Invitational on Friday, Sept. 6 at 1 p.m. against Wayne State in Detroit.
The home opener is Thursday, Sept. 19 at 7 p.m. against Kutztown, part of the Bobcat Invitational.
Frostburg will also host Goldey-Beacom, Indianapolis and Edinboro at the Bobcat Invitational.
