BUCKHANNON, W.Va. — The Frostburg State men’s soccer team defeated West Virginia Wesleyan, 2-0, Sunday to open the season.
The Bobcats (1-0) scored a goal in each half. Randy Ferrin found the back of the net off an assist from Mateo Cuadros in the 13th minute, and Carlos Quintero Rivas tallied an unassisted goal in the 53rd.
Wesleyan out-shot Frostburg, 13-11, and had a 6-5 edge in corner kicks. Jan Foret made six saves for the Bobcats.
Frostburg State has its home opener Wednesday when it hosts the District of Columbia at 7 p.m. at Bobcat Stadium.
