The Frost have re-signed Kendall Coyne Schofield, the veteran forward and team captain who helped Minnesota win PWHL Walter Cups in 2023 and 2024. The sides have agreed to a two-year deal through the 2027-28 season.
Coyne Schofield has been with the Frost since it became an Original Six member of what was then a six-team league in 2024. She returns to play with alternate captains Lee Stecklein and Kelly Pannek.
Coyne Schofield finished last season with 12 goals and 23 points in 23 games, a large part of the highest-scoring offense in the PWHL in 2025. The Frost lost to eventual-champion Montreal in the first round of the postseason after winning the league’s first two championships.
“My first three seasons in Minnesota have been unforgettable for my family and me,” Coyne Schofield said in a statement released by the club. “We’re thrilled to be back for the next two seasons and can’t wait to return for Season Four. I’m ready to put in the work to bring the Walter Cup back to Minnesota.”
Coyne Schofield, 34, is tied for third in all-time scoring as one of only nine PWHL players to have surpassed the 60-point threshold with 63 in 77 contests. Her 30 goals rank fourth all-time.
The Frost have 17 players under contract for the upcoming season, eight two-time Walter Cup winners on the Frost with fellow forwards Pannek, Claire Butorac, Taylor Heise and Grace Zumwinkle, defenders Stecklein and Natalie Buchbinder, and goaltender Maddie Rooney.
