FRIENDSVILLE — A Friendsville woman was left homeless Monday after fire destroyed a single-story, manufactured home at 846 First Ave., according to the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office.
No injuries were reported in the 3:15 p.m. fire that was discovered by the occupant, who reportedly stepped outside and saw flames and smoke at the corner of the home’s kitchen.
Forty-five firefighters from the Friendsville Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department and mutual aid companies responded to the scene along with state fire investigators who continue to probe the cause and origin of the blaze.
Firefighters rescued a dog who was found beneath a bed inside the smoke-filled residence.
The property loss was estimated at $105,000, according to the fire marshal’s office.
Smoke alarms failed to activate inside the property owned by Donna Bowser and occupied by Amy Slider, officials said.
The American Red Cross provided emergency assistance to the victim.
