MOULTRIE — The Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, located at 421 Sixth Ave. N.W., and its pastor, the Rev. Otis J. Brown, will observe its annual Women’s Day program at 11 a.m. Sunday, March 10. The theme for this year’s celebration will be “Fearfully and Wonderfully Made” according to Psalm 139:13-14, which sets the standard for the celebration.
The speaker for the occasion will be the Rev. Sharon Brinson Thomas, the daughter of the late Pastor Silas Brinson and the late Annie Luevenia Henderson Brinson. She is the widow of Ronnie Martin Thomas Sr.
Thomas accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at the age of 9. Throughout most of her Christian journey, she served as Sunday school teacher for adults, Christian education coordinator, and Bible teacher for youth. She is a certified Evangelism Explosion trainer, she is currently pursuing advanced training in the field of Christian education and ministry at Bethany Divinity College.
Currently, Thomas serves as an associate pastor under the leadership of her brother, Pastor/Moderator William C. Brinson, at Willow Head Missionary Baptist Church in Thomasville.
In addition to her spiritual growth, she has proven to be an enthusiastic pursuer of higher learning. She earned her undergraduate degree at Florida Agriculture and Mechanical University and earned the Master of Science degree in Communications Disorders as well as the Educational Leadership and Exceptional Student education certifications.
She retired in June of 2022 after 42 years of dedicated service, most recently as director of exceptional student education for the Gadsden County School District.
Thomas is the mother of Pastor Ronnie Martin Thomas Jr. She is the grandmother of Axel, Ronnie III, and Shiloh Thomas. She is a member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.
The Senior Mission of Friendship is a service group and a branch of the century-old church which has Friendship a rich history for community outreach service as well as giving women a platform to connect, learn and grow in their faith. This support group of women encourages women in their journey through fellowship and support to their sisters in Christ
