Essex Tech 21, Pentucket 14: Sophomore fullback Deacon Parsons had a pair of short yardage touchdown runs and the Hawks’ defense was excellent throughout in a smashmouth victory over their Cape Ann League Kinney rivals.
Senior captain and quarterback Jacoby Casinelli-Tarasuik added the game-winning points on a third quarter touchdown run and also intercepted a Panthers pass. The triumph pushed Essex Tech to 2-1 in league play and 3-3 overall.
Swampscott 28, Winthrop 20: Junior quarterback John von Barta threw a pair of 19-yard touchdown passes to Doyle Delano and another 30-yarder to Chase Groothuis as the Big Blue (now 4-2) won their second straight and fourth in the last five contests. Captain Will Bush also found the end zone for Swampscott on a 6-yard run to give his team a one-point lead (14-13) at the break.
Bishop Feehan 35, Bishop Fenwick 30: Against one of the top Division 2 football teams in the Commonwealth, the Crusaders (2-4) battled tooth and nail, trading leads with the Shamrocks before ultimately falling just short in Attleboro.
Triton 39, Ipswich 16: The Tigers (now 1-5) were within striking distance heading into the fourth quarter, trailing only 18-8 before the host Vikings tacked on three touchdowns in the final stanza to win going away and send Ipswich to its fifth straight setback.
