Danvers 32, Peabody 15: Sophomore Zach Fultz ran for 157 yards and three touchdowns while junior Jack Houston added a pair of touchdowns (including on a 45-yard pass from quarterback Nate Wise) and finished with 145 yards of offense to give the Falcons their fifth win in seven games this fall. Fultz scored from 11, 6, and 23 yards away while Houston’s TD run came on a 1-yard plunge. Julian Capece added a big interception for Danvers, which scored three touchdowns in the fourth quarter for the win.
Jaoquim Chaves scored on a 5-yard touchdown scamper around the left side for Peabody (0-7) while senior captain Luke Maglione (159 yards passing) found Mark Mendonca (5 catches for 50 yards) for an 18-yard touchdown, giving their team a 14-13 lead after three quarters.
St. John’s Prep 37, Malden Catholic 15: The top ranked Eagles ran off 37 unanswered points after giving up an early score while putting up 540 yards of offense to improve to 7-0. Sophomore quarterback Chris Vargas was 17-of-21 passing for 279 yards and three touchdowns, including two to senior captain Pierson Scala and one to fellow sophomore Riley Selvais (187 yards on 8 receptions). Junior running backs Maxwell Parent (125 yards) and Jordan Toribio (110 yards) both went over the century mark while scoring a touchdown as well. Defensively, Owen Hawke and Connor Quigley both had QB sacks, with Vincenzo Graziani and Leo Turosky sharing one.
Bishop Fenwick 58, Cathedral 22: The Crusaders (now 3-4) had their best offensive performance of the season against their previously once-beaten visitors, scoring five unanswered touchdowns to end the game and 44 total points in the second half. Captain Dylan Patturelli ran for 207 yards and three touchdowns while also snaring a 35-yard TD pass from quarterback Andrew Kiricoples (121 yards passing). Fellow captain Tyler Connolly also caught a 38-yard TD pass from his quarterback and added a 2-yard scoring run. Odin Garron (40-yard INT) and Damon Mataragas (23-yard punt return) also had special teams scores for the winners.
Swampscott 34, Saugus 0: The Big Blue defense pitched a shutout on the road to remain in control of the NEC Lynch title chase. Senior captain Will Bush had 185 yards rushing and scored three touchdowns on scampers of 55, 61 and 59 yards as Swampscott improved to 5-2 with its third straight victory. Doyle Delano also scored for Swampscott and quarterback John von Barta threw for 120 yards and a touchdown.
Winthrop 23, Salem 12: The Witches (3-4) suffered a disappointing road loss to their Northeastern Conference Lynch rivals, falling behind by 15 points at halftime and were unable to catch up. Junior captain and quarterback Jake Lister scored on a 5-yard read option to get Salem on the board in the third quarter, then connected with Kendal Murga (4 catches, 64 yards) on a 30-yard touchdown pass in the fourth. Lister finished with 130 yards passing.
Essex Tech 35, Hamilton-Wenham 21: Hayden Ferguson finished with three receptions for a career high 114 yards, including a 73-yard touchdown catch on a halfback option pass from Xavier Parsons, then took in a 29-yard TD hookup from quarterback Jacoby Casinelli-Tarsuik, as the Hawks (4-3) held serve at home while climbing over .500. Casinelli-Tarasuik ran for a game-high 151 yards, with teammate Makaio Bey scoring on a 62-yard run, Aiden Grove taking a kickoff back 78 yards to the house, and Charlie Lussier finding paydirt on a 5-yard run.
Hamilton-Wenham (1-6) got 114 yards and a touchdown run from captain Caden Schrock; another scoring run of 13 yards from junior QB Anthony Folger, and a 4-yard scoring toss from Folger to captain Luke Molitano, who finished with eight grabs for 96 yards.
Amesbury 47, Ipswich 7: JD Greenleaf’s 15-yard touchdown run in the late going was one of the highlights for the Tigers (1-6) on Senior Night in their loss to the unbeaten Redhawks. Andrew Young added an extra point kick for Ipswich.
