BASEBALL
Danvers 9, Saugus 8: Beckett Wodarski led off the seventh with a single then scored on a bases loaded walk to push the Falcons (7-6) to victory. Wodarski had a 3-for-4 dat and scored three times while Luca McGloin had four RBI and two doubles and Colby Medeiros also knocked in two. Wodarski also worked the last 1 2/3 to shut down the Sachems and pick up the win. Drew Godfried also went 4-for-4.
Bishop Fenwick 14, Cardinal Spellman 0: Nick McFadden (2 RBI) and Nathaniel Pena (3 RBI) both hit triples and the Crusaders (11-4) scored nine times in the second inning to put away Spellman. Matt Martisauskas and Odin Garron scored three times each and winning pitcher Andrew Kiricoples also supplied a couple of hits to the attack.
Gloucester 7, Marblehead 3: Sophomore Collin Allen pitched well for the Magicians and the game was tied 3-3 in the sixth before the Fishermen plated a few unearned to take the win. EJ Wyman also had three hits for Marblehead, now 8-7 and 7-3 in NEC play. Tim Wales and Greyson Leventhal also had two hits and Marblehead stranded 11 on base.
Masconomet 17, Winthrop 1: Aidan Brown hit a 3-run homer and Chase Lepore had three hits as the Chieftains (8-6) cruised their way into a first place tie atop the NEC Dunn. Benjamin Linehan also had two hits and two RBI while Drew Gustafson hit a double and fanned five over three innings to earn a win.
Pingree 8, Kents Hill 1: Kyle Daniels blasted his first career home run, going 2-for-2 with a walk, and Jack Spear struck out 12 hitters in just four innings to pick up the win for the Highlanders (now 10-4). Matt McDonald and Drew Mullaney both added two hits, a run scored and two RBI for the winners while Mateus Fecik also had two hits and scored a run.
SOFTBALL
Danvers 17, Saugus 3: Junior Kyla Moroney had herself a day, going 4-for-4 with a home run, a double and six RBI as the Falcons picked up their fifth straight victory. Amanda Hartley was also on her game, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, with teammates Addi McCarty and Briley Keezer both finishing 2-for-4 with an RBI. Ellie Linderman got the win on the mound, scattering four hits and a walk while striking out three.
Hamilton-Wenham 8, Bishop Fenwick 3: Nikki Richio went 4-for-4, including a triple, a run scored and three RBI to lead the Generals. Bianca Frederickson also had a triple and three RBI of her own, while Viola Fazio and Cassie Aceto both had two hits and stole multiple bases. Molly Bransfield went the distance for H-W, scattering nine hits and three runs with four strikeouts. She did not walk a single hitter.
Abedine Soua knocked in a run for Bishop Fenwick, as did Sarah Shann (3 hits) and Bella McKonnell. Sophia Poto picked up two hits as well.
Masconomet 16, Winthrop 9: The Chieftains got back in the win column thanks to big days at the plate.
BOYS LACROSSE
Bishop Fenwick 13, Cardinal Spellman 3: CJ Masone had another big game as the captain scored six times with two assists in a winning effort for the Crusaders (8-7). Attackmen Jake Grenert, Logan Connolly and Fred Pfischner each added two goals, Cam Garcia had one, Mike Paolini and Pfischner earned assists, and goalie Liam Kelsch made 11 saves.
Brookline 11, Peabody 7: Freshman Logan Bryte’s four goals gave him a team-leading 29 this spring for the Tanners (2-12), who also got a goal and an assist from Mike Ippolito, plus solo goalies from Spencer Turcotte and Kellen Quadros. Ben Wager finished with a dozen saves in net.
Pentucket 20, Danvers 12: Despite a terrific 5-goal showing from Ben Campell, the Falcons fell to 7-7 after this road loss. Hunter DeDominics produced three goals and three assists, with Tyler Moody scored twice and assisted on three others. Cooper Dunham and Owen Swanton had the other goals; Evan Roach won 19-of-34 faceoffs; and goalie Connor Dembowski stopped a dozen shots.
GIRLS LACROSSE
Winthrop 12, Danvers 10: Liv Henry scored four times while Sienna Goldberg had strong showing with three goals and one assist for the Falcons. Addie Moore scored twice, Sophia Goudreau had one, Hannah Tersolo assisted once, and goalie Elizabeth Solis made seven saves.
GIRLS TENNIS
Marblehead 5, Salem 0: The Magicians made it seven straight wins thanks to Samara Dosch (6-4, 6-1), Callie Gilmore (6-1, 6-1), Sophie Li (6-0, 6-1) and the teams of Emily Levine/Annie Tucker (6-2, 6-3) and Carolyn Black with Gabby M (6-1, 6-3).
Ipswich 5, Rockport 0: The Tigers climbed to 8-3 on the season thanks to a straight sets victory on the road. Senior Ava Croce and sphomore Leila Harb teamed up to win at doubles, as did as senior Alex Angell and junior Sarah Belford. Sophomores Mae Borgman and Phoebie Allen, as well as senior captain Abbie Allen, grabbed wins in singles play.
BOYS TENNIS
Bishop Fenwick 5, Danvers 0: Connor DiTomaso and William Rand of Fenwick had the match of the day at second singles, with Rand prevailing 7-6 (8-6), 7-6 (10-8).
Marblehead 5, Malden Catholic 0: Now 10-2 on the season, Marblehead received wins in singles play from Ty Cooper (7-5, 6-1), TJ Kelly (6-0, 6-0) and Caleb Sidman (7-6 (7-4), 6-3), plus from the doubles tandems of Adam Loughlin and Alex Boehning (6-1, 6-3) and Cordt Menzler and Filip Wabno (6-1, 6-3).
COLLEGE BASEBALL
Endicott 10, Hartford 0: After being upset by Western New England, 7-4, earlier in the day, the top-seed Gulls blanked Hartford to advance to Sunday’s championship game. Jeremy Krendel limited Hartford to four hits over seven innings and the bullpen allowed no hits. TJ Liponis took the bull by the horn offensively, hitting two doubles and a home run as nationally ranked Endicott (33-9) scored three in the first and never looked back.
Bridgewater State 7, Salem State 4: The No. 2 seed Vikings were dropped into the elimination bracket in the MASCAC semi’s with BSU scoring five times in the bottom of the eighth to prevent the upset. Owen Duggan drove in two runs for Salem State (21-16) and Nolan Currier pitched well over 6 1/3.
COLLEGE SOFTBALL
Endicott 13, Hartford 3: The Gulls (24-13) punched their ticket to Sunday’s CNE championship game by staying alive. Kylyn McLaren had three hits and four RBI and Mia Mitchell and Maddie Beely also had three hits each to power the No. 1 seed Gulls, who were upended by Roger Williams in a 2-1 pitcher’s duel earlier Friday.
