GIRLS BASKETBALL
Bishop Fenwick 63, Shrewsbury 30: Senior captain Caitlin Boyle scored 14 points — including the 1,000th point of her storied four-year high school career — and added 10 rebounds as the Crusaders (now 13-5) rolled at home.
Fellow senior captains Celia Neilson (15 points, 5 assists) and Brittney Figulski (7 points, 4 rebounds) also had strong games for Bishop Fenwick, while junior Abby Jenkins shined in a 13-point, 3-assist performance.
Governor’s Academy 47, Pingree 35: Shauna O’Brien scored 19 points and Rayana Laurent added 10 in the Highlanders’ setback.
Revere 54, Salem 13: The Witches (0-19) finished their season with a non-league defeat.
BOYS BASKETBALL
Peabody 73, Nauset 64: Thad Broughton (7 rebounds) and Mark Mendonca (5 rebounds) each had 22 points and six assists as the Tanners came home from Cape Cod with a non-league victory. Jeremiah Agbonavbare (9 points, 3 rebounds), Jeremiah Gerard (6 points, 5 rebounds), Cory Dooley (6 points), Dom Domenici (6 points) and Jack Smith all had strong contributions in Peabody’s (7-14) victory.
Salem 64, Bishop Fenwick 48: Junior captain Elian Rodriguez scored 21 points, including five 3-pointers, plus dished out six assists and made four steals to keep the Witches (16-2) rolling. Senior captain Nate Lane added 16 points, seven rebounds and six assists for the winners, who got another 12 points, 11 rebounds and two assists from freshman Cleto Deng. Sean Murphy added eight points, three rebounds and three assists.
BOYS TRACK
Dunn places second in state for Danvers: At the MIAA Division 4 Indoor Track & Field Championships in Boston, Zach Dunn of Danvers took second place in the 55 dash (6.59 seconds) as the Falcons placed 13th out of 39 teams. Jack Capece added a fifth place showing in the high jump (6 feet), while teammate Jack Curcuru also scored points for the Blue-and-White after taking eighth place (6.81) in the same event.
Delano is tops for Swampscott: For Swampscott, which took 16th place overall, Doyle Delano (45 feet 9 1/2 inches) and Benjamin White (45-9 1/4) took fourth and fifth place, respectively. Simon Brown placed seventh in the 2-mile (10:04.08) and Anthony Colella was ninth in the mile (4:35:09), while the 4×800 relay team of also finished ninth (9:03.75).
GIRLS TRACK
Ryan leads Danvers: Tess Ryan, a junior, was the top finisher for the Falcons at the Division 4 state meet, claiming third place in the 55 dash (7.30 seconds). Ryan, along with sophomore Flavia Locilento, senior Sabina Sturgeon and freshman Margaret Lamar, took fifth place in the 4×200 relay (1:50.63), and Grace Conklin added a sixth place showing in the 2-mile (11:58.46).
Bishop Fenwick’s 4×800 relay foursome of seniors Julia Davis and Marianna Kay, plus juniors Olivia Rowe and Adelaide Sweatman, took sixth place in 10:39.11. Sweatman added an eighth place showing in the 2-mile (12:21.79).
Swampscott was led by Annabelle Everett’s fifth place finish in the (5:13.05).
BOYS HOCKEY
Hebron 2, Pingree 1 (OT): The Highlanders were snakebitten, falling to 10-7-4 despite putting 60 shots on net. Freshman Drew Gallucci had the goal for Pingree.
WOMEN’S COLLEGE HOCKEY
Salem State 1, Mass. College of Liberal Arts 0: The Vikings improved to 9-12-2 with a forfeit victory.
