Friday at the Crossroads, a celebration of downtown and local businesses and organizations, will return for 2024, with the kick-off event set June 7 in downtown Crossville.
This year’s events are scheduled for June 7, Aug. 2 and Oct. 4 downtown along Main St. from Neecham St. to Lantana Rd. and surrounding side streets from 4-8 p.m.
“Friday at the Crossroads is an opportunity to see what downtown businesses have to offer,” said Brooke Shaffer, who launched the effort in 2016.
Friday at the Crossroads is sponsored by Downtown Crossville Inc. with the support of the city of Crossville.
Last year, the Crossville City Council adopted new rules governing street closures in the city, including Main St. Changes included limited the number of times an organization can request street closures and requiring expanded insurance coverage.
The changes have increased the cost of holding the event. For this reason, outside vendors are asked to donate $25 per event to DCI to defray the cost of the street closure application, insurance coverage and event costs.
A PayPal link will be provided in the event email sent to vendors who sign up for the Friday at the Crossroads mailing list. Those emails are sent about one month prior to the date of the next Crossroads.
Participating vendors will need to continue to work with downtown businesses to identify a host location and are asked to verify with a business prior to each event if they may set up at their location. Music vendors and those needing an open, grassy area can contact Brooke Shaffer at bshaffer@cumberlandcountytn.gov for a location.
