Friends of Cumberland Mountain State Park and Bob Tarter welcome the public to Tales and Tails, a free educational show with animals.
Shows will begin at 1:30 and 3 p.m. Sunday, May 4, at the Recreation Lodge.
“Tarter’s shows are entertaining and educational,” said Laurie Snyder, president of the Friends group. “He will showcase different styles of tails and their usefulness. It can be for defense, acquiring food or productivity.”
Tarter, a lifelong nature enthusiast, is a wildlife biologist and owner of Aniamalogy.org/Natural History Educational Co. of the Midsouth. He holds a degree in natural resources and environmental sciences from the University of Illinois and is working on his master’s degree in that field at the University of Tennessee at Martin.
“He is hopefully bringing a fennec fox, vinegarroon, African Pygmy hedgehog, red-tailed boa, Russian legless lizard, and a Eurasian eagle owl,” Snyder said.
A registration opportunity to help in planning is available at the state park’s webpage on tnstateparks.com or on Facebook.
