The Free Press was selected as one of three finalists in parent company CNHI’s Newspaper of the Year contest.
The contest calls for four editions of each newspaper/website to be judged against about 40 other newspapers across the country from Texas to Massachusetts. The Daily Item, of Sunbury, Pennsylvania, was recognized as the company’s Newspaper of the Year.
Free Press coverage that was noteworthy to judges included in-depth reports on affordable housing and fentanyl overdoses.
Along with The Free Press, daily newspapers in Anderson, Indiana and North Andover, Massachusetts were recognized as finalists.
