Gathering Laughs, a newly-formed improvisational comedy performance, will make its debut at The Gathering in the Village Green Mall, beginning at 4 p.m. April 5.
The event, which is free and open to the public, promises to entertain with spontaneous scenes and sketches created on the spot based on audience suggestions.
“We’re excited to bring this group of enthusiastic players to The Gathering for a free performance,” said Dave Wendland. “I had no idea how many would step up and want to get involved. The power of community and support is present at each of our rehearsals. It has been amazing and so much fun; I think the audience will find it very entertaining indeed.”
The idea first surfaced as Steve Salmond, pastor of The Gathering, expressed interest in opening the doors to the centrally located church venue for special events.
“The Gathering is intended to be just that; a place to gather,” Salmond said. “The energy and interest for an afternoon of improv comedy is growing and I think it will be another wonderful way to bring our community together.”
For those interested in attending, seating is limited, and advance tickets are required.
