Fredonia Road will be closed beginning Monday morning as part of the highway construction project on Hwy. 127 North from I-40 to Potato Farm Road.
The closure is expected to last for two weeks to allow crews to install drainage structures and reconnect the side road to the new proposed alignment, the Tennessee Department of Transportation said in a written statement released Friday afternoon.
Traffic will be detoured via Maynard Road, TDOT officials added.
“Drivers are encouraged to use caution as they travel through this area and expect delays,” TDOT said in the statement. “Signage will be posted directing drivers through the work zone. This work is weather-dependent. Should inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances cause delays, it will be rescheduled to a later date.”
TDOT encourages motorists to use its information tools to check travel conditions before departure. Check the TDOT SmartWay Map online or dial 511 for statewide travel information.
Tennessee’s Move Over Law requires drivers to move over for highway workers and emergency vehicles. Violation of this law can result in up to 30 days in jail and a fine of up to $500.
