FROSTBURG — Four Frostburg State athletes earned weekly honors from the Mountain East Conference (MEC) on Monday.
In football, Jordan Brooks was the Co-Offensive Player of the Week while Rainer Haveland earned Defensive Player of the Week honors.
In a 32-30 triple overtime win at Charleston on Saturday, Brooks set a career high with 389 passing yards, completing 24 of 35 attempts with four touchdowns.
It’s the fifth-most in a single game in program history.
Haveland recorded a career-best nine tackles, including a pair of sacks.
The Bobcats (6-1) head to Wheeling on Saturday at 1 p.m.
In women’s soccer, Katy Doty earned Defensive Player of the Week honors with two standout perforamances in goal.
On Wednesday against West Virginia State, who’s 9-3-1 record is second-best in the MEC behind Fairmont’s 9-1-2 mark, Doty set a career high with 11 saves.
The Yellow Jackets led 17-5 in shots including 12-3 on goal, but Doty’s effort led to a 1-1 draw.
Doty put up a clean sheet against West Virginia Wesleyan in the following game on Saturday.
Doty saved both of Wesleyan’s shots on goal, leading Frostburg to a 2-0 win.
The Bobcats (7-4-2) head to West Liberty on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
In women’s swimming, Genna Rippeon was named the MEC’s Swimmer of the Week.
In Saturday’s 164-93 victory over Davis & Elkins, Rippeon won four events.
Rippeon won the 200 free (1:58.54), 500 free (5:19.24), and 200 IM (2:16.87) and teamed up with Kay Burhman, Jayme Meadows and Mackenzie Payne to win the 200 free relay with a time of 1:43.10.
The Bobcats (3-0) host Fairmont State on Friday at 5 p.m.
