Jordan Zannini returned the game’s opening kickoff for a 75-yard touchdown, and the Blue Devils never looked back on the way to their fourth straight win to close out the regular season.
QB Van Mason added a 1-yard touchdown to make it 14-7 Salem at halftime and after three quarters.
The fourth quarter was all Blue Devils.
Aidan Shikrallah ran for touchdowns of 10 and 25 yards, the defense forced a safety, then Zannini ran an interception back 35 yard for the clinching score.
Salem closed out the regular season 6-3.
Whittier 40, Malden 22
Noah Allen rushed for 179 yards and scored three touchdowns as the Wildcats rolled to the victory in the rain on Thursday night.
Allen hit for touchdown runs of 2, 1, and 24 yards, as Whittier improved to 6-2 on the season.
Jay Vazquez added 132 yards an a 10-yard score for the winners. Gary Booth added a 4-yard score for the Wildcats, who led 21-0 at halftime.
Concord 35, Timberlane 8
Giovanni Recesso ran for a 3-yard touchdown, the Owls’ lone score. Matt Fitzgerald added a 2-point conversion, and Thomas MacKenna had an interception for the Owls, who finished the regular season 3-6.
Nashua South 25, Pinkerton 21
The Astros led 14-7 at halftime, 21-7 late in the third quarter and 21-19 midway through the fourth quarter before Nashua South took the lead for good with 6:27 to go in the game.
It was the third straight loss for Pinkerton, which enters the postseason with a 6-3 record.
Pelham 33, Milford 6
The Pythons snapped a two-game losing steak. They now enter the Division II tournament with a 6-2 record.
