MANKATO — Levi Christian Hurst, 26, of Bushnell, Florida, has been convicted of domestic assault and intentional restraint in connection to a violent incident that occurred in Mankato in May.
He has been sentenced to serve a year and a half at the Minnesota Correctional Facility in St. Cloud, followed by approximately five months in the Blue Earth County Jail.
Hurst was previously charged with seven felonies, including kidnapping, sexual misconduct, third-degree assault, false imprisonment, domestic assault by strangulation, threats of violence and property damage, according to the criminal complaint.
The complaint alleges Hurst assaulted a woman during an argument about his methamphetamine use, slamming her head into a wall, breaking her nose, choking her and refusing to let her leave the apartment. The woman later reported that he sent her threatening messages, which delayed her decision to press charges.
Hurst was initially jailed in Florida on an unrelated battery charge before being extradited to be charged in Blue Earth County District Court.
