A Cumberland County man who fled from a police stop last month — the second flight in two years — pleaded guilty in Criminal Court and agreed to an eight-year prison sentence to be served as a Range III, or persistent offender, at 45%.
Marcus Alan Braddam, 32, Bradshaw Family Road near Mayland, reached the plea agreement and appeared before Judge Gary McKenzie last week.
The plea to two counts of felony evading arrest resulted in the remaining charges against him being dropped.
Braddam entered guilty pleas to evading arrest on July 2, 2023, and again on March 17 of this year.
He received six- and eight-year sentences which are to be served concurrently, or at the same time. Fines and court costs are waived.
Braddam has a history of fleeing from police traffic stops.
In February 2020, Braddam pleaded guilty to evading arrest and felon in possession of a weapon in a flight from Tennessee Wildlife Officers the year before.
In the July 2, 2023 incident, Braddam attempted to flee a Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office traffic stop on a motorcycle.
In the latest incident on March 17, Braddam fled from Sheriff’s Deputy Morgan Alvarez in the area of Hwy. 70 N., resulting in a lengthy pursuit on Pomona Rd. where traffic was closed to one lane because of utility workers making storm damage repairs.
That pursuit ended on Claysville Road, and Braddam was apprehended a short time later hiding “underneath a couch” in the living room of a relative’s home.
