LAWRENCE — Irish Heritage Month officially kicked off late Friday morning when the green, white and orange flag of Ireland was raised above Campagnone Common.
Officials and a variety of Irish descendants gathered across from City Hall for the ceremony.
A variety of cultural events are planned in March in the city to celebrate Irish heritage. This weekend’s events include:
Saturday, March 2: 152nd St. Patrick’s Day Banquet and Dance at the Lawrence Lodge of Elks, 652 Andover St. Traditional corned beef & cabbage dinner featuring a new caterer, Simply Elegant Catering, with dancing to the Silver Spears Irish Show Band from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. Awarding of the Richard Cardinal Cushing and Irishman and Irishwoman of the year awards.
