Danville Area Community College has announced dates for 13th Annual First Gig Rock Camp.
The Original First Gig Rock Camp, established at DACC in 2011, brings the Rock Star experience to kids between ages 10 and 17. Camp will be held June 24-28, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Bremer Conference Center on the DACC campus.
The cost is $250 per student, and registration is available at firstgigrockcamp.com.
If your student has a desire to play in a rock band — guitar, bass, drums, keyboards, horns, or be a lead vocalist — this camp is perfect for them. Whether they are a beginner or have some experience, they will be taught everything they need to know to perform live on stage.
Participants will work with professional musicians who are experts in their fields. These instructors bring years of experience and a passion for teaching. The camp groups students into bands, providing a collaborative environment and culminating in a final performance in front of a live audience.
Since First Gig started at DACC In 2011 It has expanded to Champaign and Decatur. Many former students have returned as instructors, or attend DACC as music students.
