MANKATO — A structure slated for demolition will be burned by local firefighters during a live training 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 9 at 933 E. Plum St.
Fire officials say live burns are critical training as they give multiple fire departments the opportunity to practice how to fight fires safely and effectively in a controlled setting.
Mankato Public Safety firefighters will be training in partnership with Eagle Lake and North Mankato fire departments.
Beginning at 6 a.m. that day, vehicle parking will be restricted on the 900 block of Plum Street.
As precautions during the training, people who live in the vicinity should cover vehicles and roll up windows, close windows in their homes and bring indoors items that could be damaged by smoke.
