A firefighter was taken to a local hospital Saturday night after they were injured on the scene of house fire on Lincoln Avenue in Royalton.
The Niagara County Sheriff’s Office Communications Center received a call reporting a chimney fire at 7910 Lincoln Avenue about 6:10 p.m. When first responders arrived, the fire had spread from the chimney to the residence.
All occupants were able to safely exit the home.
One resident was evaluated at the scene for smoke inhalation.
During firefighting operations, a firefighter sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital for evaluation.
A total of 19 fire/ems companies responded to the scene to assist with fire suppression and operations and the fire was successfully extinguished.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Niagara County Fire Investigation Unit. There is no estimate on damages at this time.
