The Lockport Fire Department is investigating an early Monday morning fire in the attic of a duplex home on Juniper Street.
The fire was called in about 5:50 a.m. Monday at 93 Juniper St., according to Lockport Fire Chief Luca Quagliano. The occupants of the home were out of the home with their dog when firefighters arrived.
Firefighters could see signs of the fire near the peak of the home’s roof, near a chimney. Once in the home, the fire was located in the middle of the attic and the main fire was quickly extinguished. However, firefighters had to work through the roof of the attic to locate several hotspots hidden throughout. The home’s first and second floors suffered water damage only.
There were no reported injuries to firefighters, who were on scene for about four hours, Quagliano said. Damage to the home was estimated at $40,000 and $10,000 to its contents.
The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental with investigators continuing to look for the cause late Monday morning.
