CUMBERLAND — A fire in a vacant home just before midnight Friday on Baker Street is under investigation by the Maryland Office of the State Fire Marshal.
Cumberland firefighters were called to 720 Baker at 11:43 p.m. and found fire at the rear exterior of the two-story duplex.
Investigators said neighbors heard people outside and discovered the fire before calling 911. There were no reported injuries.
The fire marshal’s office credited the quick response of firefighters to limiting damage to about $1,000.
In addition to Cumberland, firefighters from Bowling Green, Ridgeley, Bedford Road and Cresaptown responded.
