The allure of storytelling has been a draw throughout the Gloucester 400+ year, and the final storytelling event is nearly here.
The Gloucester 400+ Stories Project will present “Oh, Starry Night” on Tuesday, Dec. 19.
The free event, an evening of storytelling and poetry, takes place at Maritime Gloucester, 23 Harbor Loop, at 6:30 p.m.
“We have had storytelling events throughout the year and this is our last one,” said Terry Weber Mangos, director of the Stories Project. “The program titled ‘Oh Starry Night,’ is a reference to this time being around the holidays and we want this to be uplifting for the end of the year.”
The lineup of speakers and poets includes Paulette Turco, Laura Plummer, Heidi Wakeman, Kathleen Williams, Stuart Kurtz, Deborah Leipziger, Alexander Thompson, Maria Mia Millefoglie, Caroline Haines, Shannon Morris, Mary Ellen Lepionka, and Terry Weber Mangos.
“It promises to be a special evening as it is the last storytelling event of 2023,” said Mangos. “Can’t think of a better time of year to share heartfelt stories and poems with each other.”
In February, there was a storytelling event at Beauport centered on love, and over the summer there were several programs aboard the schooner Adventure. Tuesday’s event will celebrate the winter holidays and the season of light.
Tickets are free but seats must be reserved. Seating is limited. To reserve a spot, visit www.gloucesterma400.org, and click on “events.” This event is a partnership between Gloucester400+ and Maritime Gloucester.
