The Cumberland County Film Society, a 501(c)(3)organization, is preparing for its next membership drive to take place Jan. 1-31.
The $15 membership fee allows members the opportunity to see 10 critically acclaimed films — five in the spring and five in the fall — at the Cumberland County Playhouse at 221 Tennessee Ave., Crossville.
The film society has screened movies at many locations since its beginning 24 years ago. The first screening was “Chocolat” at the Playhouse, where those attending were served a free cup of hot chocolate.
In the following years, the Film Society bounced among the Senior Center, Cumberland Cove Community House, a community coffee house, Art Circle Public Library, Palace Theatre, Capri Twin Theater and Rocky Top 10 before making its way back to the Playhouse last year. Concessions are available.
Visit ccfsfilmbuffs.org for more about the group. The membership form will be available on the website for downloading in the latter part of December.
