ST. PETER — Filings for St. Peter School Board and City Council seats closed at 5 p.m. Tuesday.
The seven-member School Board has three four-year-term seats available. The members are elected by school district residents in Nicollet and Le Sueur counties.
The four people who have filed to run for an Independent School District 508 board seat are incumbents Kate Martens Charlie Potts and Drew Dixon, and new filer Marcia Ranft.
For the City Council, three council positions are open as well as the mayor’s seat. The mayor serves for two years and the council members for four.
As of Tuesday, two contenders had filed for the mayor’s seat. Current St. Peter Mayor, Sharon Nowell, was one and newcomer Chuck Vieman the other.
For council, there is one seat open in the south ward and two for the north ward.
In the north ward, current council members Darrell Pettis and Ben Ranft have filed to run again. They have both finished one four-year term and are running for their second.
On the south side, current council member Dustin Sharstrom is running for his second term. And one new face filed in the south ward, Zuleika Abdi.
Elections for St. Peter School Board and City Council are Nov. 4.
