CEDAR CITY, Utah. — Fort Hill graduate Mikey Allen had a standout performance on Saturday in Southern Utah’s 31-24 upset win over No. 13 Abilene Christian (4-4, 3-1 United Athletic Conference).
With just under two minutes left in the first half, the former Sentinel intercepted a pass and returned it 32 yards for a touchdown that put the Thunderbirds (2-5, 1-2 UAC) ahead 14-10.
Allen finished with three tackles, an interception and a fumble recovery.
“It means everything, really,” Allen said in the postgame press conference. “It’s been a while since we got a win, so great feeling.”
Fort Hill graduate Danny King also played for Southern Utah, punting four times for 159 yards and averaging 39.8 a punt.
His long was a 47-yarder and he pinned two punts inside the 20-yard line.
All six of King’s kickoffs resulted in touchbacks.
The Thunderbirds play at Utah Tech on Saturday at 6 p.m.
