The Fairfield Glade Community Club broke ground at the site for the new Druid Hills Clubhouse Monday, April 28. According to Mary Jo Paige, director of marketing and events, the approximate construction time for the clubhouse is 15 months.
“It’s just been a wonderful thing to see people starting to get involved with [the performance center] but the crown jewel of all of this is what we’re going to do today, which is really the start of our clubhouse and all the land around it,” said Greg Jones, FGCC board of directors president. “So this is a huge event for us and believe me it’s really been something for us that we’ve really enjoyed to finally get to this point.”
Several parties were in attendance who made the groundbreaking possible including Cumberland County Mayor Allen Foster, Ethan Hadley, president and CEO of the Crossville-Cumberland County Chamber of Commerce, Architect Vic Jones and Associates, Contractor Johnson & Gaylon, the FGCC Senior Management Team and some of the FGCC Board of Director members.
“Now you know what it’s time to do? Move some dirt,” said Jones before the attendees picked up their shovels.
The Druid Hills Clubhouse will be approximately 22,700 square feet. It will include indoor and veranda dining options.
The clubhouse will sit adjacent to The Quarry putting course and near the Golf Performance Center, also known as ‘The Golf Garage.’ According to the renderings, the golf pro shop will also be housed in the clubhouse.
