Team Smithskis, made up of Cindy Smith, Bryan Smith, Mary Wolski and Brian Wolski, won the 2025 annual Fairfield Glade treasure hunt.
The Fairfield Glade annual treasure hunt is a game that utilizes wit and quick thinking skills. The elaborate and complex game is designed by the previous year’s winner.
This year, the program welcomed 20 teams, each with four members per team and totaling about 80 contestants.
The game includes solving several puzzles and whichever team answers them all correctly wins the points to win the treasure hunt.
This year, there were 10 puzzles to solve. Each puzzle held a clue that led to several different locations in the Glade.
Each team got a different order in which to solve the puzzles so that they weren’t on top of one another while traveling around the Glade.
There were nine teams this year who earned perfect scores. The tie-breaker was the speed in which the team completed the treasure hunt.
The groups all met at Robin Hood Park to celebrate the completion of the event.
The winners earned a $200 prize, which was sponsored by Mountaineer Realty.
The treasure hunt also featured a costume contest for each of the teams. Some team members came in matching outfits and came up with a name for themselves.
Susan Borgi, one of the 2024 treasure hunt winners, shared that the puzzle answers are not something easily researched online.
For example, one of the puzzles to solve was to determine the color of the shutters on a house across one of the lakes in Fairfield Glade. This was a puzzle that could not be Googled.
For those that wish to participate next year, Borgi suggests a few tips when developing a team:
