LOCKPORT — Agents with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Buffalo Field Office and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration fanned out through the city and town of Lockport Tuesday morning as part of what was described by a law enforcement source as “a lengthy and complex” investigation into a drug distribution network.
Sources indicated that the agents, assisted by state and local law enforcement agencies and at least two K-9 units, executed search warrants at multiple locations in the city and town.
It could not immediately be determined what, if anything, was seized during the search warrant executions.
There was also no immediate information available on whether any arrests were made by the agents.
Spokespersons for the FBI and DEA did not return calls seeking comment. A law enforcement official, speaking on the condition of anonymity, said the agents were involved in “court-authorized activities.”
The Niagara County Sheriff’s Office declined all comment on the activity other than to confirm that members of their agency were assisting in the operation.
