Lockport police say Denise R. Williams, 42, was the victim of Friday’s fatal stabbing on Genesee Street.
Chief Steven Abbott said Williams was the victim of an incident of domestic violence, but did not provide additional details Tuesday.
Staff at Pizza Oven by Rinaldo on Vine Street posted a message on Facebook on Monday mourning Williams’ death.
“We are devastated by the news of this,” the post states. “For anyone who has come into our shop for just over a year, Denise showed nothing but kindness and patience.”
Officers responded to a report of the stabbing in the area of 263 Genesee St. about 2:45 p.m. Friday and found Williams suffering from a stab wound. She was transported to Lockport Memorial Hospital for immediate treatment, but died despite life-saving efforts.
Lockport police began looking for Isaiah M. Williams, 21, on Friday for questioning.
Isaiah Williams was found in Pendleton by New York State Police on Saturday and turned over to Lockport police, who then charged him Saturday with second-degree murder in the case.
Police officials said Friday he is a relative of the victim and that the attack was not a random act of violence.
A GoFundMe launched by a friend of Denise’s mother has raised more than $1,500 of a $3,000 goal to take care of burial expenses and assist Denise’s daughter. It can be found at www.gofundme.com/f/support-for-deborah-after-tragic-loss.
