The Sept. 16 Fall Fashion with Compassion, presented by the Cumberland County Republican Women’s Club as fundraiser to support the club and the Avalon Center of Tennessee, was attended by a sold-out audience at Lake Tansi Restaurant.
Those attending strolled the decorated room admiring and bidding on silent auction baskets while enjoying heavy appetizers provided by Lake Tansi Restaurant.
“We wish to thank the featured models who sashayed down the runway wearing ensembles provided by Merle Norman, Morning Sage and Avalon’s Second Chance Resale Shop,” said Mary Kopmeier of the Republican Women’s Club. “Shout-outs for our sponsors included Gracie Mae Boutique, Back in Time (formerly The Cumberland Swing Experience), The Four Fifths Barbershop Quartet, The Shampoo Bowl, Promised Land Lawn Care and Lake Tansi Restaurant.”
Avalon Center Director Rachel Bruning spoke about the role The Avalon Center plays in the lives of domestic violence and sexual assault victims in a seven-county area.
Kopmeier said the Republican Women’s Club is pleased to be able to present The Avalon Center with a check to help further their work.
October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month and the Avalon Center invites the community to unite in remembrance, healing and hope by joining their candlelight vigil at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 28 at 196 10th St., Crossville. Go to www.avaloncentertn.org/events for more information.
“The Republican Women’s Club wishes to thank the businesses who participated in our fashion show by providing clothing and models and allowing us to raise financial support for the Avalon Center to help them continue their very valuable service in our community,” Kopmeier said. “Our hope is that this exposure will help the businesses grow and thrive in our community.”
