The Fairfield Glade Women’s 18 Hole League raised $12,222 to benefit the Cancer Patient Support Fund at Cumberland Medical Center.
“We are tremendously thankful for their generosity,” said Emily Mars, supervisor of radiation oncology at Thompson Cancer Survival Center at Cumberland. “These funds go directly towards helping our patients with various needs that often arise while undergoing cancer treatments and helps better equip them for survivorship.”
The event included nearly 200 members and was held Tuesday, June 10 at Fairfield Glade’s Heatherhurst Golf Course. Cumberland Medical Center provided a complimentary lunch.
Members Jeani Miller, Sheila Hall, Jan Cellio, Dee Nannini and Martie Novack presented the donation to Randy Davis, President and CAO at Cumberland Medical Center. The proceeds are designated in a fund to help provide cancer patients support for items such as supplemental nutrition, gas assistance, and lodging when patients live further away and need treatment.
CMC’s Cancer Center cares for approximately 700 patients each year. The Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons has recognized the center for offering high-quality cancer care. Its comprehensive patient care model is essential in the diagnosis and successful treatment of cancer. The cancer center includes:
