Tennessee School Bus Safety Laws – What Drivers Need to Know
Per Tennessee Code Annotated § 55-8-151, here’s when drivers must stop for a school bus:
All traffic in both directions must stop when a school bus has flashing red lights and an extended stop arm.
All traffic in both directions must stop.
Only traffic traveling in the same direction as the bus must stop.
Oncoming traffic on the other side does not have to stop.
The bus begins moving.The stop arm is no longer extended.The flashing red lights are turned off.
