Organizers are finalizing plans for the 15th semiannual Cumberland County Gun and Knife Show.
The April 5-6 show will be at Cumberland County Community Complex at 1398 Livingston Road, Crossville. Proceeds from the show support youth activities at the Community Complex throughout the year.
“Our idea is to hold a Gun and Knife Show event like no other. We want to make it a community event for the whole family supporting our entire community,” said Donnie Moody, Community Complex director.
A certified NRA instructor and range safety officer will lead a free New Shooter Seminar starting at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, April 5. A retired Cumberland County deputy sheriff will be on hand to answer any legal questions. Go to gkshow.org for registration information.
Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 1015 will conduct a special flag retirement ceremony Saturay afternoon.
Dozens of community volunteers and businesses support this show. Vendors return annually from all over the Southeast to support this show for many reasons, but small-town hospitality is one of the main reasons.
“From the minute you pull into the parking lot, volunteers are on hand to support the vendors – including unloading stock, bringing cups of coffee, and checking in to see what I could need throughout the weekend,” said vendor Steve Taylor, who has attended every year. “This happens at no other show.”
This family event will be 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Sunday. Saturday admission is $5 for adults; ages 16 and younger are admitted free. Admission is free to all attending on Sunday. Parking is free. Door prizes will be awarded throughout the day.
