AMESBURY — The Amesbury Improvement Association’s Brian Eldredge Skate Park subcommittee is holding a public hearing on plans to renovate the park on Wednesday, at 7 p.m. at the Amesbury Senior Center, 68 Elm St., Amesbury.
The skate park came into existence in the 1980s with prefab concrete structures over an old asphalt tennis court. The skate park was named after the late Brian Eldridge in November 2018 by the city of Amesbury. The BEMSP committee was formed and has been fundraising since then.
The first phase of the renovation was started in December 2020. Fundraising continues for the second phase which the committee hopes to complete in 2025-26. In October, the committee had a Halloween fundraiser in conjunction with Amesbury businesses which included an ongoing raffle. The raffle winners will be picked at the end of the public hearing on Wednesday. Raffle tickets are still available on the committee’s Facebook page: “Brian Eldredge Memorial Skate Park.”
