Gilbert graduates from Sungkyunkwan University
SEOUL, South Korea — William S. Gilbert, a graduate of Valdosta High School’s Class of 2015, recently graduated from Sungkyunkwan University (SKKU) in Seoul, South Korea, obtaining a Master’s Degree in Korean Philosophy. This prestigious university was founded in 1398 during the Joseon Dynasty. Gilbert is the first Westerner to graduate from the Korean Philosophy program at SKKU. He was a recipient of a full tuition scholarship and worked as a graduate research assistant at the Korean Academic Expansion Center.
Currently, Gilbert is a Doctor of Philosophy in Philosophy (PhD) student at Sogang University in Seoul, where he serves as a teaching assistant. Gilbert intends to write a dissertation on the syncretic characteristics of Korean Daoism. He also has two academic publications and two forthcoming works, highlighting his contributions to the field of Korean Philosophy. Additionally, he has co-produced five “Massive Open Online Courses” (MOOC) on topics relating to Korean philosophy and culture.
Beyond his academic pursuits, Gilbert has made South Korea his home, residing in Incheon with his wife, Ina Jeong.
Lane named to Shorter University dean’s list Fall 2023
ROME, Ga. — Devonn Lane, of Hahira, is among those named Shorter University’s Fall 2023 dean’s list. Lane is majoring in Management. To achieve this honor, students must have been enrolled full time and have earned at least a 3.5 grade point average for the term.

University of Alabama announces dean’s list for Fall 2023 Term
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — A total of 13,950 students enrolled during Fall Semester 2023 at The University of Alabama were named to the dean’s list with an academic record of 3.5 (or above).
The UA dean’s list recognizes full-time undergraduate students. The lists do not apply to graduate students or undergraduate students who take less than a full course load.
