ST. ELMO — Mya Friese needed 15 kills to reach 1,000 kills for her stellar career.
She is just shy of that mark after another terrific night on Thursday.
Friese finished with 11 kills for the Windsor-Stewardson-Strasburg volleyball team in its straight-set win over the St. Elmo-Brownstown Eagles at St. Elmo High School. The Hatchets (9-3, 4-0 National Trail Conference) won the first set, 25-15, and the second, 25-18.
“We lost some focus tonight and had too many service errors,” said WSS head coach Ronda Schlechte in an email to the Daily News. “SEB challenged us at the net in the first set and we struggled using our offense.
“We picked things up in the second set with Mya firing off several hard attacks. Kenzie [Thompson] had a great night as well.”
