It’s Edmeston for the win.
Brock Redner, a senior midfielder/striker for the Panthers, took home the first of The Daily Star’s Athlete of the Week Awards for the fall season.
Redner had two goals and two assists in the opening-round of the Stamford Mayor’s Cup on Aug. 31, as Edmeston topped SK/A, 7-0. Edmeston then topped Unatego/Franklin in the third round of the tournament, 5-1, on Sept. 5. Redner again had two goals and two assists in the win.
On Sept. 12, the undefeated Panthers won the Mayor’s Cup for the second straight year.
Redner won the award in a close voting contest over Sidney’s Gabe Cirigliano after the two goal scorers were in a tie for most of the week.
This week’s award is sponsored by Reinhart Home Heating.
