More than two dozen worshippers huddled together early Easter morning against the cold in the LaSalle Waterfront Park gazebo for a service hosted by Bacon Memorial and Riverside Presbyterian churches.
The Rev. Lisa Elkington of Bacon Memorial Presbyterian and Rev. Laura Morris-Buisch, of Riverside Presbyterian led the service.
Morris-Buisch told the worshippers that it was nice to be with them on “this cold morning.” She told them it had been a morning “like this”, when the followers of Jesus Christ had gone to his tomb the day after his crucifixion.
Elkington provided the service’s benediction, exclaiming, “The hearty followers of Christ!”
The Easter service is a tradition for the two congregations on the holiest day of the Christian calendar.
