MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — East Hardy dropped a tune-up game in preparation for next week’s state tournament, falling 6-1 at Martinsburg on Monday.
Dayton Dove drove in the Cougars’ (25-10) lone run on an RBI single in the sixth inning.
The Bulldogs (25-11) scored five of their six runs in the third.
Three runs scored on an error, with another crossing the plate on a passed ball.
Dove, Mason Hamilton and Levi Price had East Hardy’s three hits.
Gage Dove allowed three earned runs in 2 2/3 innings with two strikeouts.
Cole Lantz allowed one earned in 3 1/3 frames of relief.
Grant Henderson tossed three shutout innings with two strikeouts for Martinsburg.
The Cougars head to Frankfort (22-7) on Tuesday at 6 p.m. for its final game before states.
The Class A tournament begins on Saturday.
