MANKATO — Mankato East boys cross country coach Chris Ward was named the prep cross country Coach of the Year for the state of Minnesota by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association, Mankato Area Public Schools announced Friday.
Ward has led the Cougars to back-to-back Class AA championships. The Cougars dominated at the state meet in November, finishing with 46 team points, well ahead of second-place Perham at 97.
“We are thrilled to celebrate Coach Chris Ward’s well-deserved recognition as the Boys’ High School Cross Country Coach of the Year for Minnesota. This achievement is a testament to Coach Ward’s dedication and commitment, as well as the remarkable efforts of the student-athletes and coaching staff,” Mankato East activities director Todd Waterbury said in a press release.
