PLATTSBURGH — It couldn’t have gone much better for the Beekmantown hockey team on Wednesday.
The Eagles (11-2, 6-0) wrapped up the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference championship by skating to a 10-2 victory over Plattsburgh High at the Stafford Ice Arena while hosting their 10th-Annual Hannah’s Hope Fundraiser Night.
“It was a solid overall team performance tonight on a very special night for our program” Beekmantown coach Justin Frechette said. “I would like to thank everyone who came out and supported our program on this special night.
“With the hard work of Reagan Tetreault and several other volunteers, we were able to raise $2,500 for Hannah and her fund. I’m grateful to be part of such a supportive school community and the athletic program.”
There were also some individual accomplishments on the ice.
“Congratulations to Ryan Demers on scoring his first varsity goal and to Zach LaPier who hit the 150-point mark for his career,” Frechette said.
The Eagles took a 4-0 lead in the first period and held an 8-0 advantage before the Hornets got on the board in the second.
Zach LaPier and Novak Jarus scored two goals apiece for Beekmantown, with LaPier also getting two assists and Jarus one.
Sam Bingel, Louis Sweenor, Edward Sweenor, Demers, Mason Carter and Keegin Rodier all scored a goal each. Edward Sweenor had four assists, while LaPier, Louis Sweenor and Demers each added two apiece.
The Eagles held a 64-14 shots on goal advantage.
Chase Laravia and Braeden Calkins tallied the PHS goals and Owen Chapple had 54 saves in net.

LAKE PLACID — Landen Duprey scored two goals and added an assist to help lead the way for the Spartans (7-6-1, 3-2).
“I thought our effort was very inconsistent throughout the game,” Saranac coach Robby Knowles said. “We had some points where we worked really hard and had good pace, and other times where we were very flat footed.
“We didn’t do a good job of gaining separation, which allowed SLP to hang around for most of the game.”
Gabe Moore, Brody Macomber and Adrian Barnes also tallied goals for the Spartans, with Jonathan Roy adding two assists. Shawn McLane stopped 23 of 24 shots in the Saranac nets.
“A couple of defensive miscues gave them some good chances, and McLane came up big on those opportunities,” Knowles said.
“Adrian Barnes worked extremely hard for us all game long and has been the motor for our offense all season.”
Kellen Duffy scored a late second-period goal for Saranac Lake/Lake Placid, which cut the hosts’ deficit to 3-1 at the time. Scottie Nicholas stopped 36 of 41 shots in the SLP nets.
“We need to get ready to go for another important two league points on Friday,” Knowles said. “I know PHS hasn’t had great results this season, but they have a good goaltender and some guys who are dangerous offensively.
“We will need a complete effort against them.”
