Deposit/Hancock and Windham-Ashland-Jewett both made it to the final day of the 2026 softball season, with D/H winning a Class C state title and the Warriors losing in the Class D championship to Oakfield-Alabama, 4-1. Now both teams lead the region with All-State selections.
Windham Coach Nate Hoyt was named Class D co-Coach of the Year, along with O-A’s Jeff Schlagenhauf. Windham pitcher Hannah Tuttle was named the Class D co-Player of the Year with O-A’s Savannah Durham.
The Warriors won a Delaware League title in 2026, plus their first Section IV Class D title in the sport, as well as a regional title. They finished 21-1.
In addition, Piper Cohane and Kylie Jordan placed on the Class D Third Team for Windham.
D/H went 23-2 in 2026 and won a Class C title. It is the seventh state title in the past nine seasons with a state playoff for Deposit and the combined D/H team. However D/H’s Dan Briggs and Ivy Tice were passed over for state-wide Class C Coach and Player of the Year. Those honors went to Gowanda senior Addison Kota, a Syracuse commit, and Pine Plains Coach Les Funk. Pine Plains went 19-2 and lost in the Class C semifinals to Galway in extra innings.
However, Tice was named to the Class C First Team, a result of her 12 home runs and 60 RBI this season while pitching and playing right field for the Eagles. Teammate Kadyn Appley, a sophmore who plays third, also made the First Team and Victoria Green, a junior who plays first, made the Third Team.
In Class D, Afton’s Jenna Wilson, a junior pitcher, and Brinlee Wright, a senior pitcher for Charlotte Valley/Schenevus, made the Second Team. Bailey Thayer, a sophomore pitcher for Cherry Valley-Springfield/Sharon Springs, made the Third Team.
Bainbridge-Guilford’s Alessandra Cafasso, a junior pitcher and shortstop, made the Class C Third Team.
Oneonta was represented by sophomore pitcher and shortstop Jenevie Gallusser, who made the Fourth Team in Class A.
Gallusser, who was a team captain, went 7-3 in the circle with 83 strikeouts and a 3.726 ERA in 62 innings pitched. She was even better at the plate, setting program records for home runs (6) and highest batting average (.529) in a season. She had 37 hits, including 12 doubles and the six homers, as well as 30 RBI and 32 runs scored.
Oneonta went 16-7 this season, losing in the Section IV Class A championship to Maine-Endwell.
