MECHANICVILLE — Rhianna Gilligan’s first-half goal was all the scoring as Beekmantown knocked off previously-unbeaten Mechanicville, 1-0, in non-league girls’ soccer on Sunday.
The contest was part of the Battle of Section II vs. Section VII Tournament held in Mechanicville.
Payton Parliament picked up the assist on Gilligan’s goal which came 6:11 into the first half.
Meegan Burdo needed to make just two saves in the Eagles’ net, while Ava Gimmick stopped eight shots in goal for Section II power Mechanicville, which entered the game with a 13-0-1 record.
The Eagles, who dropped a 2-1 decision to Schalmont the day before, improved to 12-1 overall.

MECHANICVILLE — Zara Kushner scored a goal and assisted on another as Section II’s Schalmont improved to 12-0 overall with a victory over the Eagles.
Kushner opened the scoring on a penalty kick at 5:36 and then assisted on Gianna Cirilla’s goal at 13:17 of the opening half.
Beekmantown finally got on the scoreboard with 18 seconds left in regulation on a goal by Ashley Barnes, assisted by Grace McCasland.
Skylar Blackwell recorded nine saves in the Schalmont nets and Meegan Burdo stopped seven shots for the Eagles.

CHAMPLAIN — The Cougars built up a 4-1 lead and then held on for a Northern Soccer League Division I win over the Hornets.
Kylee Surprenant, Maddie Arno, Callie Racine and Brynn Hite scored goals for The Cougars, while Bailey Hewson tallied twice and Amaya Abellard once for the Hornets.
“We came out strong tonight and played with a lot of energy in the first half,” NCCS coach Tim Suprenant said. “We scored at opportunistic times, stopping the PHS momentum.
“We were able to extend the lead early in the second, but PHS didn’t quit and was able to capitalize twice, one on a penalty kick. We settled down the final 20 minutes and played solid defense, blocking shots and forcing them to shots outside the 18.”

LAKE PLACID — Addy Moore gave the Sentinels the early lead at 6:44 of the first half.
But the rest of the NSL Division II game was all Lake Placid.
The Blue Bombers rallied for a 2-1 lead in the first half on goals by Anisa Cecunjanin and Eliza Fitzsimmons and then pulled away in the second stanza with Kendra Levitt scoring twice and Maya Garrison once.
Garrison added assists on the first two Lake Placid goals.
“Our team played well all over the field today,” Lake Placid coach Heather Brewer said. “We created great chances that we were able to finish on. Maya Garrison had a strong day offensively for us too.
“Addy Munson created some good opportunities for Ticonderoga.”

WILLSBORO — Laney Nolette’s goal with 7:04 gone in the second half gave the Wolves their NSL non-division win.
Peyton Leerkes made six saves in net for Willsboro while recording the shutout and Lacee Lapoint stopped nine shots for the Knights.
“The two teams came together for our annual Kickin’ It for Cancer game and we raised $455 for the Fitzpatrick Cancer Center,” Willsboro coach Justin Drinkwine said.
