No female player locally could match what Riley Dunn accomplished for Pinkerton Academy this winter. The senior forward led the Astros to the New Hampshire Division I state semifinals this winter, a feat she also accomplished as a freshman.
A dominating offensive presence, she finished the season with 43 goals, 37 assists and 80 points, coming in 18 games. She averaged 4.2 points per game coming against 10 playoff teams. She finished her career with 109 goals, 69 assists and 178 points. She holds program records for career goals and career points, and all of that comes after playing just six games during the shortened COVID season as a freshman.
In an 9-3 win over Keene this season, she figured in all nine goals, finishing with five goals and four assists.
Dunn has been named a two-time Eagle-Tribune All-Star an a two-time New Hampshire All-State selection – becoming the first player in program history to be selected last year. She was named to the Make-A-Wish Senior All-Star Game and to the USA Today Girls High School Player of the Year Top-50 Watch List.
Dunn, who is also a member of the Pinkerton’s softball team, holds a 4.0 GPA academically, is involved in various school Honor Rolls and will be attending St. Anselm College in the fall, where she plans on playing on its club hockey team.
“Riley is one of the smartest hockey players on the team. She is not afraid to go the dirty areas and dig the puck out for her teammates. Her quick shot-release and accuracy have produced several goals. Her passing accuracy has provided an increase in goals for her linemates,” said head coach Scott Dunn, who also is her father. “Riley leads from the front. In four years she has never missed a practice or a game. She is one of the hardest workers in practice which translates to her high productivity during games. She only had two penalties all season.”
