PEABODY — A driver was taken to the hospital Saturday morning after crashing their car into New England Meat Market.
The vehicle struck the left side of the 62 Walnut St. building around 9 a.m., breaking the exterior wall and partially entering the store, Peabody police Capt. Dave Bonfanti said.
The driver became trapped in the driver’s seat and the car’s front airbag deployed.
Peabody firefighters prevented the car from moving further into the store by attaching a winch to its frame.
EMTs and firefighters then assisted the driver, who told first responders they were feeling back pain. The person was taken to the hospital with minor injuries, Bonfanti said.
No employees or customers were injured in the incident.
The Peabody Building Inspector also responded to assess the damage, and the affected wall was boarded up, Bonfanti said.
The market was open Monday morning.
