MANKATO — A crash at an intersection Friday morning on the northeast side of town resulted in one driver being airlifted to a Rochester hospital.
Two drivers, both unidentified males, were involved in the crash that included a pickup truck and car at about 10 a.m. at the intersection of Premier Drive and Victory Drive, a city news release said.
One of those men was seriously injured and needed to be extracted from the vehicle he had been driving. He was airlifted to a Rochester medical facility. The other driver suffered minor injuries and did not require medical attention.
Authorities believe the driver who was airlifted was intoxicated and had caused the accident by running a red light, the city release stated.
Sections of Premier Drive and Victory Drive were closed for about two hours while authorities reconstructed the crash. The crash remains under investigation.
Mankato Department of Public Safety, State Patrol and the Blue Earth County Sheriff’s Office responded to the crash.
