VALDOSTA — Former Valdosta State Strength and Conditioning Coach Michael Doscher returned to Titletown as the new Director of Strength and Conditioning as he began his second stint with the Blazers on June 1.
Doscher was the head strength and conditioning coach for the Blazers from for 24 years, from 1996 to 2020, where he was one of the most recognized and respected coaches in the country. Doscher helped mold the championship mentality in the Valdosta State football program, helping lead the Blazers to four national championships in football since 2004.
His effect on VSU athletics has not limited to just football as he also helped the men’s tennis team to three-straight NCAA national championship matches, including the 2006 national title victory. He has aided the Blazers to numerous conference titles and seven of the school’s nine national championships overall.
Doscher has been honored for his work numerous times, including in 2005 where he was named the national College Strength and Conditioning Professional of the Year, by the National Strength and Conditioning Association. He was named the Samson NCAA Division II Strength and Conditioning Coach of the Year by American Football Weekly in 2007. He also was chosen to speak by the National Strength and Conditioning Association in China on assessing and testing athletes three consecutive years from 2008-2010.
In 2017, Doscher was selected to serve as a member of the Practical Exam Committee for the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCa). Doscher was inducted into the VSU Athletic Hall of Fame on Jan. 20, 2024. Since 2020, he has served as coordinator for strength and conditioning at Tift County High School.
Doscher received his undergraduate degree from Springfield College in 1992, and his master’s degree from Mississippi State University in 1995. He gained experience as an intern at Boston College and an assistant at University of Nevada-Las Vegas and Mississippi State.
